Improving Digital Sexual Literacy in Australia (DigiSex)

Exploring the ways in which Australian adults consume digital sexual material and represent themselves as sexual beings in digital contexts

About

DigiSex is a multi-study, multi-year (2024 – 2028) program aiming to theorise and develop understandings of digital sexual literacy. In this research, digital sexual literacy refers to how Australian adults both consume digital sexual imagery (this includes, but is not limited to, pornography), as well as how they represent themselves as sexual beings in digital contexts.

The project is led by a team of researchers from the Australian Research Centre in Sex, Health, and Society at La Trobe University and the University of Sydney.

It is funded by an Australian Research Council Discovery Grant.

The project is also guided by our End User Advisory Board, comprised of a group of experts from key stakeholder groups to ensure that the findings meet the needs of policymakers, public servants, sex educators, health promotions practitioners, and researchers.

Improving Digital Sexual Literacy in Australia Survey

We are currently recruiting participants for a short survey exploring adults' (18+) experiences, thoughts, and feelings related to digital sexually explicit material.

The survey should take approximately 10 minutes to complete.
